Forest Information

Important reminders for anyone visiting the Angeles National Forest:

"FREE DAYS" IN 2014
ADVENTURE PASS FEE WILL BE WAIVED AS FOLLOWS:
There will be five free times when visitors to the Angeles National Forest will not need to purchase an Adventure Pass:
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Mon. January 20
Presidents Day Weekend on Sat. to Mon. February 15 to 17
National Get Outdoors Day on Saturday June 14

National Public Lands Day on Sat. September 27
Veterans Day Weekend on Sat. to Tues.  Nov.  8 to 11

Adventure Pass Program

Adventure Passes:
A pass must be displayed for all vehicles parked in a High Impact Recreation Area in the National Forest for a recreational purpose.  Please learn more about the adventure pass program.


Fire Safety

Fire Safety: 
Wood fires and barbeques are allowed only within a Forest Service developed recreation site. (A developed recreation site is one that has a Forest Service metal fire ring and/or BBQ grill installed.) Outside developed recreation sites, a portable stove or lantern with propane, butane, petroleum gas or jellied fuel may be used only by persons with a valid California Campfire Permit. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or designated area, is prohibited.


Wilderness Permits

Wilderness Permits:
A wilderness permit is required for entry into the Cucamonga Wilderness.  Permits can be obtained through the District Office during the week or at the Mt. Baldy Visitor Center on weekends.  A wilderness permit is required for entry into the Sheep mountain Wilderness from the East Fork.  Permits may be obtained Friday through Monday at the San Gabriel Canyon Gateway.


Pets

Pets:
Dogs must be on a leash at all times when in the National Forest.
