Messages for AVA Activity Leaders
Week of March 7: The annual volunteer awards lunch has been scheduled for Saturday, March 20 at 11:30 at the S.G. Canyon Education Center. Please bring a potluck item to serve six according to the last digit of your phone number: 0-3 side dish; 4-5 salad or fruit; 6-7 chips or snacks; 8-9 soft drink.
Also on March 20 at the Ed. Center there will be a safety refresher class from 8:30 to 11:30. Contact Lois to register for either event.
Week of February 28: Meeting on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Scout Hut in Glendora.
Week of February 21: No new messages.
Week of February 14: Watershed Restoration events have been scheduled for Sat. March 27 and Sat. April 24 at the SG Canyon Ed. Center. If you want to participate as a leader contact Esmeralda.
Week of February 7: We are working on filling various March dates for Adventure Pass sales at The Gateway. Contact Lois if you wish to participate.
Week of January 31: Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Scout Hut in Glendora.
Week of January 24: A trail work training session is being offered on Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Forest Supervisor's Office in Arcadia [more].
Week of January 17: It is expected that some roads will be closed this week due to storm activity.
Week of January 10: No new messages.
Week of January 3: Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Scout Hut in Glendora.
Week of December 27: The new annual passes (with 2011 expiration dates) will be delivered to The Gateway next week.
Week of December 20: Monday is the astronomical beginning of winter. Watch for ice on trails and roads; carry cold weather gear.
Week of December 13: Effective December 9, the Fire Danger Level has been reduced from Extreme to High.

Week of November 29: No business meeting on this week due to the holiday event. Watch your email for important updates.
Week of November 22: Anyone planning to attend the holiday party: You must RSVP by November 29.
Week of November 15: Our traditional holiday meeting will be on December 3 at 6:30. If you plan to attend please contact AVA president so that we can order food.
Week of November 8: November 11 is a "fee free day" in honor of Veteran's Day.
Week of November 1: General meeting on Thursday at the Scout Hut in Glendora at 7:00 p.m.
Week of October 25: There will be a guest speaker from Friends of the River at the November meeting. Invite your family and friends to attend.

Week of October 4: Highway 39 has reopened. Use caution due to highway repairs in progress.
Week of September 27: The Oct. general meeting scheduled for Thursday has been cancelled due to the number of people who will be working at the County Fair.
Week of September 20: Saturday (9-26) is National Public Lands Day and the Adventure Pass fee will be waived in the four southern Calif. national forests. Note: Forest Closure for southern portion of ANF is still in effect.
Week of September 13: The Fiscal Year for the Forest Service ends on Sept. 30. The volunteer coordinator is requesting that all reports for the year be turned in by Oct. 3.
Week of September 6: Due to the Forest Closure, our activities will be greatly reduced during the next few weeks.
