The National Park Service prepared the Study to determine whether all or part of the study area is significant, suitable, and feasible for designation as a unit of the national park system.

The City of Monrovia is considering the adoption of the Hillside Wilderness Preserve and Hillside Recreation Area Resource Management Plan. The Plan would guide the long-term management of the Project Area in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Grand Canyon National Park. An Environmental Impact Statement evaluates alternatives for achieving substantial restoration of natural quiet as required by Public Law 100-91 in 1987. Although there has been progress under the previous regulations, they have not achieved substantial restoration of natural quiet.

Congressman Dreier has introduced a bill which adds to the existing Wilderness Areas in the San Gabriel Mountains. Dreier stated: "it is vital that we preserve recreational opportunities for future generations."
