Geology Lecture

The Angeles Volunteer Association invites members of the public to hear a lecture by professor D. D. "Dee" Trent on Thursday evening July 3. The subject will be the geology of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Dr. Trent, Geology Professor, Emeritus, at Citrus College, received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. He taught for 28 years at Citrus Community College, Glendora. He has extensive field research in Alaska and California and served as adjunct faculty at University of Southern California, teaching field ecology. He appeared in the PBS telecourse series, The Earth Revealed. Dr. Trent has been active in the National Association of Geoscience Teachers for 30 years, serving as chair for the Far Western Section and an officer at the national level. He is a recipient of the Association's Robert Wallace Webb Award . Dr. Trent is co-author of the widely-used college textbook Geology and the Environment, and recently he was co-author of the book Joshua Tree National Park Geology.

TIME AND LOCATION: 7:00 p.m. on July 3 at the Scout Hut in Finkbiner Park in Glendora.

From Foothill Blvd. go north on Wabash Ave., passing the baseball field on your right. Turn right (east) on Meda. Continue past the first cross street (Minnesota Ave.). After passing the tennis courts on your right, the road ends at the parking lot. The Scout Hut is the small building southeast of the parking lot.

You may also park on the south side of Finkbiner Park along Dalton Ave. From there you will need to walk to the north side of the park. (Use one of the pedestrian bridges to cross the flood control channel.) See Map.
